Born 1980 in Schwaz in Tyrol, Austria. Lives and works in Tyrol, Austria. Studied Photography and Film at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund.

In his work, Gregor Sailer describes the relationship between built infrastructure and its natural, man-made and social surroundings. His images document the construction, the use and the decay of industrial buildings, many of which are located within enclosed complexes that can only be entered with special permission. The main focus of his interest is the interplay between the buildings that he depicts and their evolving and changing environs.

His contribution to the project INSIGHTS arose from photographs taken in the winter of 2012 at five wienerberger facilities in Hungary, embracing both very modern plants as well as disused production sites. They all decisively affect their rural and natural surroundings while themselves also being affected by their environment.
