Friederike von Rauch makes portraits of buildings or, to be more precise, man-made architectural spaces. However, she hardly ever shows a whole building, preferring instead to concentrate on specific spatial situations or tightly cropped details that the average viewer would probably not even notice. Her images are carefully composed, and the plane depicted is frequently divided by distinctive horizontal or vertical structures. Despite the strongly two-dimensional impression of the images, her focus is on the nature and feeling of space created and evoked by architectural elements and the choice of materials used.

The works for INSIGHTS were created at a production site in Brandenburg, as well as at buildings in and around Berlin.
